I’ve finally gotten to that point in my life where I can say the younger folks used to always say, “I’m just keeping it 100” or “keeping it real”, meaning; “I’m telling the truth as I see it or as it really is.”

I am not a perfect person but for a long time I thought I was. I was in the military for over 29 years, and I was always taught if you are going to do something, do it right or not at all. I have lived my life like that for a long time and expected others to do the same and sometimes I still do, if I’m keeping it real😊. If it comes to me, it better be right (perfect), it does not matter if you did it, or you got it like that; when I get it, it better be right.

I am still working with God, but even right now, I will not eat ugly food as I call it. If my chicken or bacon is too dark, you can keep it. If my rice is mushy, I do not want it, and if the cake looks dry, throw it away. Not giving any thought to how the person that prepared it feels. Keeping it “100” they did not have to cook it; I could have cooked it myself.

I say all that to say this. When I got saved, I thought I had to be perfect and do everything right, and that is a hard job let me tell you, that I never accomplished. Trying with my whole heart (doing the best I could) is what God wanted. He knows we will not be perfect, but he sees our efforts and he is pleased with that.

I had a sister that used to call me Mr. Perfect, and I took pride in that, but it was not a good thing, looking back on it now, she was trying to tell me in her own way, STOP it doesn’t need to be perfect.

Keeping it “100”, if you are perfect that means you don’t need God’s help in doing anything and that is FALSE, because we all need His help. God wants a person that will try as hard as they can to please Him and not himself, someone that is dedicated to God’s cause, and not his own. Just keep it “100” with God and He will keep it “100” with you. May God continue to bless you, your brother in Christ…TMK.
