† Road Trip

I was sitting in my living room the other night looking through the back door as dusk turned into dawn. The leaves on this one particular tree were being moved slightly to the rhythm of the wind’s desire. Out of the wooded area, comes a cute baby rabbit hopping swiftly onto the grass without a care in the world. This scene unfolding before my eyes, got me to thinking about my life and how it would end when the time came.

With all the things going on in our world today, it’s Imperative that we plan on making the trip that would make all of the disappointments, all the frustrations, all of the hatred, and all of the things we’ve gone through—worthwhile.

Think on this for a minute—if you will. It was obvious to me that that cute little bunny was just getting started with his life without a care in the world. He was out at night alone and had no idea if danger was around the corner or not. He had no concerns about where he was and how far he had strayed from the den. He was just doing what rabbits do—with no thought of how his story could end. Don’t get me wrong—if danger had of shown up—I would have rescued him for sure.

It’s sort of expected when we are young, inexperienced, and immature, that we’d often be a little careless with our travels. But the Bible records Christ encouraging His followers to live their lives on earth traveling the path that would guarantee a pleasant end one day. He said, “Enter into the straight gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in there at.” In other words, they would go on with life carelessly as it may seemed good for them to live. They would travel on roads while not really being concerned about where the road would take them and later— the end will come.

Think about it. While our lives are full of things we prefer not to experience at times, it’s important to heed to His warning. Every road we travel, here one earth, will lead somewhere one day. Why not be careful to ensure your “Road Trip” leads you to life everlasting and not to eternal destruction. Staying on the right road can be a bummer and restrictive at times, but if my life will end one day—I would rather my “Road Trip” carry me straight into the arms of God. What about you?
