As children, when we did something wrong, we took the blame, at work, when we made a mistake, we took the blame. In marriage, when an argument started and we knew we were wrong, we took the blame.
Blame is familiar—almost too familiar. But it’s something we were never meant to carry forever. If it’s your fault, admit it, apologize, and move forward. That’s healthy. That’s human.
But somewhere along the way, we started taking the blame for things that weren’t ours. We carried guilt that didn’t belong to us. We held on to mistakes God had already forgiven. Today is the day to put that down. When we repent, God promises to forgive us—every sin, every thought, every word, every deed—and to separate us from them as far as the east is from the west.
Yet when something bad happens, our first thought may still be, “What did I do wrong?” But maybe… maybe you didn’t do anything wrong. Maybe the attack came because you did something right.
The enemy is slick—just as slick as we used to be. He whispers, “If you hadn’t done this… if you hadn’t done that… none of this would be happening.” And before we know it, we’re digging up things God already buried. We reclaim guilt God already released. But hear this: God forgave you. That’s the end of that.
I’m saying this because I’ve lived it. I’ve sat in my own mess long enough to get pulled right back into it. Life happens—we get sick, frustrated, angry, maybe even say things we shouldn’t—but that’s not why your car didn’t start this morning. The battery died. That’s all. Wrong timing, sure, but when is there ever a good time?
Stop carrying blame that isn’t yours, humble yourself, ask for God’s forgiveness. Pray for His help to fix what needs fixing. It may not change instantly as we wish it would, but it will change.
Let go of the blame. The game is over. It doesn’t belong to you anymore. May God continue to bless you, your brother in Christ…TMK.
