† Don’t Get Sucked In

There are so many things to choose from in this present age that it can be confusing as to which is the best course of action to decide. Which action taken will bring about the best outcome for you, your loved ones, and your neighbors. Yet and still there are those times when the outcome was not our choice at all.

News flashes on the television or an alert is received on your mobile device that a storm is headed your way, and the expectation is that it will be a heavy hitter. It’s predicted that it will knock out power, rainfall will flood the streets by several inches—taking with it anything in its path. Often times they will take the time to even name the storm. If you are wise you find yourself making preparations to survive.

I believe it’s a blessing to be warned about a possible storm coming our way, whether it shows up or not. At least there was a warning to be on the alert. But then there are other things headed our way sometimes and the only warning we have is after it’s swept through and made a mess of your day. No alert on our phones, our radios, or our televisions—here it is, and we have to deal with it whether we feel like it or not.

Depending on the nature of the storm, if we get sucked in “too deep” the damage could be overwhelming, leaving us disheartened and discouraged. We could suffer damage to our emotional state of mind or our physical wellbeing and once sucked in—you will have to fight hard to come out.

Knowing this it would be a good idea to pay attention to the warning signs when they show up. You know that uneasy feeling you get that shows up from time to time. You may not get an alert from the normal channels that danger is approaching, but most people can sense somewhere in their inner being that something doesn’t feel right.

The Bible says we’re to guard our hearts, for out of them flows the issues of life. In other words, guard ourselves against getting pulled into those things that do not minister life or peace to us, but instead are constantly pulling us down. We must fight to be released from the grips of fear, anxiety, hopelessness, depression, and loneliness. For none of these things are from our Heavenly Father.

Are you willing to fight to remain free from life’s unwelcomed danger—that Come Hell or High Water you will do whatever it takes to fight against the desire to “Get sucked In”. Doesn’t matter what’s trying to pull you into itself—Come Hell or High Water—you must pay attention and guard your heart! If you purpose to do that—a lot of storms headed in your vicinity—will turn and pass right by you. (Read Proverbs 4:20-23)
