† My Space

When I was a little girl there was a place, I’d go to when I wanted to be alone.  With just me, myself, and I is how I enjoyed most of my time.  It was my space and no one else was allowed in it.  I’d go there and stay for hours at a time wishing, hoping, and thinking about the things I thought were dear to me.  You know how it can be when you’re young and haven’t experienced much in life yet.  Most of your focus is about you and no one else.

Years ago,  when social media became social media there was this application called My Space.  It was designed to be a place you’d invite people to.  If you wanted them in your space, you were able to visit, meet and socialize with all kinds of people no matter where they lived in the world.  It was your space, and you were able to be selective with who you wanted there and when you didn’t.  It was simply your choice to choose and if they messed up you could just as easily cut them out of your space too.

In life, wouldn’t it be great if we could pick and choose what types of people entered in and out of our lives?  It would be great to pick the family you wanted to be born into or choose the people who lived next door to you.  It would be awesome to have a say as to who we had to talk with, fellowship with, and when we had to make a trip to the grocery store, who we would see on aisle three.  What about deciding for yourself who you would be stopped next to at a long red light, or when visiting the doctor’s office for a routine appointment.  Unfortunately, we are not always in control of the day to day affairs of our lives and will sometimes have people in our space we’d rather not.

“Think on This” for a minute.  If God has made Himself available to each and every one of us—no matter who we are or where we come from and if He continues to wait patiently, year after year for us to decide to invite Him into our space and into our day to day affairs—why not?  Why not have the most powerful being as a real friend in your life?  If the truth be told—it’s because of Him that we even have a life at all.  Wouldn’t it be great to be able to fellowship, talk to, be yourself with, and share your most precious secrets with and know that they won’t be found on social media a few minutes later?  Wouldn’t it be a big deal to commune with a being you know loves you and will always have your best interest at heart?  He’s more real than the people we’ll meet in cyberspace.

The people we meet on social media are very seldom really who they say they are anyway, but it’s a chance we’re willing to take.  So why not take a chance with God and say Lord I invite you into “My Space”—I want you in My Space.  Why not say—I want you in my life helping me navigate through it, with more ease.  I want you to help me decide which path to take and which ones I need to stay away from.  What do you have to lose?  Tell Him today, Lord —I’m here and I invite you to share in “My Space”.  (Read Psalm 37:4-5)
