† Will You Follow His Instructions?

Have you ever been told “Don’t say what you ain’t going do”, because you don’t know what’s going to happen to change the circumstances and you end up doing it?  So, it’s best to keep your mouth closed.

A couple of years ago my sister was sick.  I came over to cut the grass and check on her. The entire time I was cutting the grass, something was telling me to pray for her and with her.  In my mind the first thing I said was, “I ain’t going to do that.  I’m not going in there and pray for a preacher and make myself look stupid”.

I fought and fought against it, while I was cutting the grass, but the thought wouldn’t go away.  By the time I had finished, I had tears, dirt and grass running down my face, I looked as though I was in a war movie.  After I had put everything away and was going to leave,  I asked her, “How do you know when God is telling you to do something?” She said, “If it lines up with The Word and it won’t let you go”. So, I told her I think I’m supposed to pray for you and immediately she said “okay, you need to do it then”.  So, I put anointing oil on both of us and nervously stumbled and bumbled through my prayer and went home.

A couple hours went by into the night, and I got a call from my sister. Needless to say, when I get night calls, I get nervous, so I answered, “What’s the matter?” She said “Nothing, I just called to tell you after you prayed and left, I felt and heard a small pop in my chest.  I feel so much better, and I can breathe and don’t have any more pain!”

I say all that to say this my brothers,  as strange as it sounds, I had gotten a complete set of instructions (what to do, how to do it, and what to say while I was doing it). To me, praying for a preacher; someone that knows how to pray a thousand times better than I do, makes no sense.  But as I think about it, that was the point. Do as I ask and see what happens. God wants us to trust Him and do what He asks us to do when He asks us to do it, even when it makes us feel uncomfortable or feel unworthy of the task.

If God has instructed you to do something, my advice is do it.  To you it may seem foolish or small. It may just help someone rather it’s shown to you or not.  Even if it’s something simple as blessing the food, God has a purpose for it, and He has your back.  Follow His instructions and try not to be too concerned about what others may think or how you feel.  Your obedience is better than any other sacrifice.  In the end, it only matters what God thinks.  Make Him proud and follow His instructions.  Never say, I ain’t going to doing it, because you really don’t know that for sure. (May God continue to bless you, your brother in Christ…TMK).
