The changes happening in society are moving at a fast pace. It’s almost if people are acting as if the time to hurt folks, mistreat folks, or belittle them is running out. If I didn’t know better, I would think that there was a letter that went out to everyone and mine hasn’t been delivered yet. Why does it feel as if people are deliberately going out of their way to make others feel small or insignificant. I mean it’s not in just this town or that town, this place or that place—it seems it’s everywhere you turn.
Think on this for a minute—if you will. No matter how kind your heart is or how unselfish you are—not everyone feels the same about the people around them.
The older I’ve gotten I have learned that some people’s hearts are just shut off when it comes to caring about the needs or wellbeing of anyone other than themselves. People say what they wanna say, do what they wanna do with total disregard for how the person on the receiving end will be disturbed by their deed. It’s like they have no heart at all.
Well, it hit me this morning that God is not concerned with how folks treat us more than He is concerned with how we treat others. Afterall if this was the concept everyone lived by—then everyone would be treated with dignity and kindliness and there would be no more hurting people. No—we would run to each other’s aide regardless of their wealth or lack thereof, the color of their skin, or the nation in which they were born into.
At some point we have to say to ourselves, “It is—What it Is”. Find peace in knowing that we don’t have the power to change people. The only power we’ve been given is the power to work with our God to change ourselves into an even better version of who we currently are. Think about it. Don’t allow the actions of others dictate your actions because people will be people and “It is—What it is!
