† Don’t Faint

I can remember running track in high school, many years ago.  I was a really good sprinter.  The coach was pretty high-strung, but very wise.  He knew how to use the talents that each athlete had.  In other words, he placed us where we belonged, so that the entire team would benefit the most.  I guess he was determined to win.

Coach placed me on the relay team.  The  4 x 200 meter event to be exact.  This event involved four athletes “working together”, each running a leg of the race.  Each athlete was responsible to run a specific distance and then passes a baton to the next runner, until all four had their turn to run.  The final runner passes the baton through to the finish line.

Not only was using our talent for the right event important, but it was just as important, if not more, to make sure we were in the correct position too.  I was always the last runner to receive the baton and more times than not—went on to win this event for our team.

I often wondered what it would feel like to run the mile event.  I asked the coach to allow me to run in this race and finally one day he did.  I took off like a bat from you know where.  I thought I was going to die after moving around the track for just one lap.  I ran and walked, ran, and walked some more until I finally just quit.  I’ve learned since that day that it’s difficult to ever reach your goal, if you decide to quit when things get rough.  To accomplish the task or goal, it’s better to make some adjustments and continue moving instead of giving up. Eventually you’ll get there in the right moment.

Life is similar.  We all have a race to run, a time to get there, and we can’t faint no matter how difficult it is or becomes.  The Apostle Paul had a lot to accomplish and a short time to do it.  He reminds us to not be weary in our well doings, that we shall reap our goals—if we faint not.  Fainting is not an option for the believer.  It only causes us to stay in the same place longer then we need to.

See, it takes heart and determination for any athlete to reach their desired goal and we are no different.   If we are going to accomplish the things God has placed in us to accomplish—my advice is—”Don’t Faint”.  If we are going to do our part to benefit the whole team, we can’t allow situations or the many things coming at us daily—to cause us to faint.  We can’t give up in the midst of our journey if we’re ever going to win the prize. No. Come Hell or High Water—we must fight to make it through to the end. So, “Don’t Faint”. Come Hell or High Water do what you need to do—to keep it moving! (Read Galatians 6:9-10)
