Do you ever wish you could be someone else or change your looks, your body shape, your height, or even your nationality? I think we all, from time to time, think of what would make us more acceptable. If we could just change one or two things about ourselves—we’d be perfect. But the truth is God has made us just the way He wanted us to be. Our job is to be okay with it.
People often try to get us to be who they think we should be and to fit in their mold of what they believe is best. In order to be in good standing with God, people will convince you that you must get it all right first, and then He will accept you as His and a part of His family. The Bible doesn’t say anything close to that and trying to fit into what other people’s ideas of perfect are—will wear you down.
When we give our lives to Christ—God is already aware of the fact that we aren’t perfect. Because of that, Christ died to reconcile us back to the Father, for He was the only perfect sacrifice by which mankind could be saved.
In Christ, we don’t have to worry about being perfect. We don’t have to worry if being who we truly are will keep us from fitting in. We all fit in with God’s plan and purpose for our lives. It was Him who created us for His glory and no one else’s. Trying to be perfect will prove to you daily that you really aren’t.
Jesus made the way for us to be accepted by God even though we are far from perfect. He is perfect and in Him, we are perfectly accepted by God. You won’t do everything right all the time, but you are still saved. With flaws and all you are still accepted by God. I encourage you today to be satisfied with who God has created you to be and remember you don’t need to fit in because you’re not perfect, but you’re accepted.
